Palmerston North police have launched a homicide investigation after a man died late on Thursday night.
District Manager Criminal Investigations Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said police were called to a property on Dahlia St at about 10:25pm on Thursday after a man had been seriously injured.
Det Insp Sheridan said the man was transported to hospital and later died.
Police are working to establish the events that led to the man's death, but say early indications are that the incident involved parties known to each other.
"At this stage, there is not thought to be an ongoing risk to the wider public."
Det Insp Sheridan is urging anyone with information or those involved to contact police via 105 and quote file number P054611560.
Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
