Two men arrested after Auckland road rage shooting of teen

Two men have been arrested overnight in relation to the Auckland road rage attack which saw a teenage girl shot on Tuesday night.

Auckland City CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Martin Friend said police arrested two men aged 25 and 25 and the pair will appear in the Auckland District Court on Friday.

Friend said the men have jointly been charged with wounding with reckless disregard and injuring with reckless disregard.

"The 25-year-old man has also been charged with unlawful possession of ammunition."

Det Snr Sgt Friend added police are continuing to investigate Tuesday night's road rage attack on St Lukes Rd, and are not ruling out further arrests or charges being laid.

"The victim’s family have been informed of the progress in the investigation and we are continuing to ensure there is support available as they recover from their ordeal," Det Snr Sgt Friend said.

"It is pleasing to see the progress in this investigation so far, and we hope that news of arrests will bring some reassurance to the wider community."

Det Snr Sgt Friend thanked the public's response to police's appeals so far but says further information is still be sought.
