Murder charges have been laid after the body of missing Canterbury man Richard Leman was found inside a car in the garage of an abandoned house in April.
Leman, 41, was missing for more than a week when police officers found his body in a garage, in the Canterbury town of Rangiora, on April 17.
A homicide investigation was subsequently launched.
On Saturday morning, acting Det Snr Sgt Daniel Overend, of Canterbury, confirmed in a statement a man had been arrested and charged with murder.
"This morning, officers, including members of the armed offenders' squad, executed a warrant at an Oxford Rd, Rangiora address," Overend said.
He said a 46-year-old man was subsequently taken into custody.
The man was due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Tuesday, police said.
"We are still urging anyone with specific information relating to Mr Leman's murder to come forward and speak to the inquiry team," Overened added.
"You can do so by calling 105 and quoting file 230415/8026, asking for information to be forwarded to DSS Daniel Overend."
