A major state highway has been forced to shut a day after it re-opened due to more rockfall.
Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) said on Wednesday morning further rockfall overnight closed State Highway 1 through the Dome Valley between Warkworth and Wellsford.
"An update will follow geotechnical assessments this morning. Until then, please use alternative route via SH16," NZTA said.
Parts of SH1 through the Dome Valley area were also closed for about four hours on Tuesday after a "large amount of rockfall" blocked the motorway, delaying and diverting traffic.
