A school bus carrying children has collided with a truck in Bay of Plenty.
The crash happened on Hewletts Rd, Mt Maunganui just before 8am on Wednesday.
St John sent four ambulances and three rapid-response vehicles to the crash and a total of 42 patients were assessed at the scene.
Five patients were transported to Tauranga Hospital, one of whom is in a serious condition.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand also responded to the crash.
The road is blocked off and motorists are advised to expect delays.
