Two young people have been arrested for allegedly attempting to rob a store and injuring its shop attendant in Wellington.
Police were alerted to a failed burglary on Dallington Road, Miramar at 9:35pm Friday.
"While nothing was taken, the store attendant suffered minor injuries, and was understandably distressed by the incident," Wellington's acting field crime manager Detective Inspector Nick Pritchard said in a statement.
The offenders had fled the scene but a police dog tracked them down at a nearby location and they were taken into custody.
One person has been charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated assault and will appear before the Youth Court, while the other has been referred to Youth Services.
"Police understand incidents like this are concerning for the community, and hope a quick arrest provides some reassurance," Det Insp Pritchard said.
