Waka Kotahi is rolling out nine new speed cameras across Tāmaki Makaurau and has revealed where they will be installed.
As a part of the Government's Road to Zero campaign, a strategy that aims to have no deaths or serious injuries on Aotearoa's roads, Waka Kotahi said the new speed cameras are the first phase of the road safety strategy.
Waka Kotahi director of regional relationships for Auckland Steve Mutton said the nine new speed cameras in the super city will keep the community safe, especially on high-risk roads.
"We know that a small change in speed can make a big difference to the outcome of a crash, and it's what will most likely determine whether anyone is killed, injured or walks away unharmed from that crash."
Mutton said the nine new cameras in Tāmaki Makaurau will be installed in the coming weeks, with more to be rolled out later in the year.
The nine new cameras are expected to be installed in the middle of June, and Waka Kotahi said construction to prepare the locations began in January.
Tāmaki Makaurau's camera locations:
- 95a Ostrich Rd in Franklin
- 155 Mill Rd in Pukekohe East
- 121 Waitakere Rd in Taupaki
