Consumers are being encouraged to check with the New Zealand Food Safety website, with another tahini recall underway.
Products containing the sesame seed paste from the Durra brand - from Jordan - have been taken off the shelves due to the possible presence of Salmonella.
But Food Safety spokesperson Jenny Bishop said people could still have the food products at home.
Steps were underway to trace the product, she said.
People were advised to check the date marked on their product, and affected products should not be consumed.
The affected products had a date range between EXP: 18/12/2024 up to and including EXP: 12/02/2025. They were sold in various packaging size variations in a plastic container or bucket, at retail outlets and ethnic grocery stores throughout Aotearoa.
Also affected were Durra brand Halawa plain, pistachio and extra pistachio.
Customers should return the products to their retailer for a full refund, the Food Safety website said.
The symptoms of Salmonellosis appear within 12 to 72 hours and include stomach cramps, fever, vomiting. There have been no reports of associated illness in New Zealand, according to the Food Safety website.
A similar recall was made earlier this year involving tahini imported from Turkey.
Further recalls may be necessary.
