A Tauranga woman is stumped after she discovered a metal pole had been cemented into her driveway, and she has no idea how it got there.
Tuesday was just another day for Otumoetai women Sophie Hucker until she drove home.
"[I] got a bit of a shock when I saw this pole and more of a shock when I hopped out of the car and realised it was cemented into my driveway."
Hucker polled the whole neighbourhood and is stuck for answers.
"I have no idea. I want answers just as much as anyone else does now," she said.
"Social has given me no, no leads, as I was kinda hoping. And now everyone wants answers, not just me, yeah."
As far as Hucker knows, no one saw anything, no one knows anything, it's a straight-up mystery.
"Well, I've said that I would be quite complimented if someone went to this extreme length to pull a prank on me, or get back at me for something like other people have suggested, but I just don't think I'm worth that much effort!"
But it hasn't stopped the jokes.
"Ahh, I've had the expected pole puns, about, you know, you post on social media and it being an offensive post and whatnot," Huck said.
She told Newshub some have suggested it was meant to go in the lounge, but she's "not the kind of person", she's a teacher. And the pole is the wrong shape.
"I've said it's rectangular so can't even swing around it. So it's not even fun!"
Hucker said the only other explanation is another family is waiting for a driveway pole to make their life complete.
"I'm not going to get angry about something that I can't necessarily control or anything right now. And it's provided a lot of laughs for everyone else, so, I'll take that."
Hucker has called the council which knows nothing and there have been suggestions she call the Police.
She had offers of help to remove it and if the owner is not found soon she'll do just that.
"I'm a bit poled out at this point."
