A woman has died after crashing into a fence in Whangārei and ending up in a creek in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police said emergency services rushed to Whareora Road, at the intersection with Paranui Valley Road, in the Whangārei suburb of Tikipunga at about 3:25am.
The vehicle crashed through a fence, down a bank and came to rest in a creek, according to a police spokesperson.
The female driver, who was the only person in the car, was found dead when emergency services reached her.
The spokesperson said the Serious Crash Unit is making inquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
Motorists are asked to avoid travelling on Whareora Road until around 8:30am on Friday while the car is removed.
