A staff member at an Auckland Mobil is shaken after they were forced to hide in a backroom while two people broke in and raided the service station.

Police have launched an investigation after a robbery at Mobil in Ōtāhuhu at about 1:55am on Thursday morning.

A police spokesperson said staff were called to the service station on Great South Rd after reports of two people breaking in.

"A staff member who was in at the store at the time secured themselves in a separate area until the offenders left the scene and thankfully no injuries have been reported," a spokesperson said.

Police are providing support to the staff member who is "understandably shaken".

Police believe the two offenders took a number of items in their early morning raid before leaving in a vehicle - which has since been recovered for forensic examination.

"Our enquiries are now underway to determine those responsible."

Police are asking anyone with footage or information about the robbery to contact police on 105 and reference file number 230824/8899.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
