Auckland police say they have entered a "CCTV phase" of their investigation as they continue to hunt down the Lime scooter rider who shot two people on Queen St.
It comes after two people were rushed to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition, with one shot in the head and the other in the abdomen.
In an update of Friday afternoon, Auckland CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton said the incident is isolated and "reassured the public that they can continue to come into the CBD".
"We are following positive lines of enquiry," he said, with police reviewing CCTV footage.
The offender was seen fleeing the scene on a Lime scooter and was wearing distinctive red and black pants and a red hat.
Det Snr Sgt Bolton wouldn't reveal much more about the investigation, but did say up to four shots could have been fired.
"Some [shots] have hit victims and some have missed."
Det Snr Sgt Bolton said one of the victims is now in a stable condition, with the other remaining in a critical condition.
The shooting unfolded at about 11:30pm on Thursday night near the intersection of Queen and Fort Sts.
Police said officers were called to the scene after reports of fighting among a small group, where one person pulled out a firearm and fired up to four shots.
On Friday afternoon Det Snr Sgt Bolton said the number of those involved in the fight is still being investigated.
