A woman has admitted stabbing her partner to death in the bath in Dunedin.
The partner was stabbed 22 times with a kitchen knife, causing stab wounds ranging from 11mm to 110mm.
On Tuesday his killer, a 61-year-old woman who has name suppression, pleaded guilty to murder.
The police summary of facts said the woman, on May 18, "stabbed the victim a total of 22 times and slashed him, causing a further six superficial wounds".
"At 5:15pm the defendant sent a Facebook message to her children saying, 'I love you Guys. I'm sorry for what I've done.'"
The killer then transferred $45,000 from her bank account into the account of one of her children.
She then called 111.
The woman told the call taker she'd stabbed her partner to death, the summary of facts said.
"At approximately 5:27pm police arrived at the address and arrested the defendant who met them at the front door. She was wearing a blood-stained top and had several superficial cuts on her hands and fingers."
The woman was remanded in custody after entering her guilty plea at the High Court in Dunedin on Tuesday. She will be sentenced in October.
