Emergency services have responded to a "suspicious" fire at a block of shops in Auckland on Monday morning.

The fire was reported on Manukau Rd in Royal Oak at 6:18am.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) told Newshub the blaze was a second-alarm fire that has been deemed suspicious.

"It was a second alarm suspicious fire at two retail buildings in a single-level block with persons reported," Lauren Sika from FENZ said.

Sika said everyone has now been accounted for and there are no reports of injuries.

Emergency services have cordoned off The Takashi Japanese Kitchen and Royal City Dumpling and Noodle restaurants.

Auckland Transport (AT) closed the section of Manukau Road between Mt Albert and Turama Road for about an hour but it has since fully reopened.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area or expect delays.

Sika told Newshub five fire appliances, two aerial and a few support vehicles were at the scene but some have started to leave. A fire investigator is also at the scene.

Police told Newshub they were called to the blaze and are assisting with traffic management.
