Police have released the name of the man who died following a shooting in Auckland in the weekend.
The man, Charles Anthony Pongi, 32, was shot at Taurima Reserve in Point England on Saturday and later died at Auckland Hospital. Police later launched a homicide investigation.
In an update on Wednesday, Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said police are in a position to formally release Pongi's name.
"Police are continuing to examine a large amount of CCTV footage obtained so far as part of the investigation," Baldwin said.
"I'm continuing to ask people in the area to continue coming forward to police, as this is providing assistance with our investigation."
The post-mortem for Pongi has since been completed and his body has been returned to his family.
On Tuesday, police arrested a man as the investigation continued. The 28-year-old was arrested for breaching his electronically monitored bail. Police said this man was at the scene of Saturday's violence.
