Auckland has its second sinkhole in two weeks, this time in Ōtāhuhu, which has forced a busy road to close.
The sinkhole is on Princes St and it's reported to be just under half a metre wide and about 30cm deep.
The sinkhole has seen the eastbound lanes in Princes St between Great South Rd and Atkinson Ave, close to traffic on Tuesday morning.
Auckland Transport (AT) said some busses will detour because of the road closure.
"Bus route 321, 323, 333X outbound services & 670 inbound services will be detoured until further notice," AT said.
A Newshub camera person captured video of the sinkhole showing it coned off and eastbound lanes closed.
It is the second sinkhole in two weeks in Auckland after one appeared outside the Auckland police headquarters on College Hill Rd in Freeman’s Bay closing the street last Monday.
The College Hill Rd sinkhole was estimated to be about 1.6 metres deep, 3.5m long and 2.5m wide, with a hole tunnelling under the road for about 1.5m.
Andrew Skelton, the council's head of area operations for healthy waters, told Newshub last week a stormwater pipe that was due for renewal in August had developed further damage, causing the soil and road above it to subside.
