Investigations are being carried out at Canterbury's Lake Ellesmere on Friday morning as part of the search for missing real estate agent Yanfei Bao.
The exact nature of the latest investigations remained unclear but other emergency services were aiding the police.
Newshub understands an effluent pond is the focus of Friday morning's search.
"Police are in the Lake Ellesmere area this morning as part of the ongoing Yanfei Bao homicide investigation," a spokesperson said.
"FENZ (Fire and Emergency New Zealand) are assisting police."
Last week, a man denied kidnapping and murdering Yanfei Bao when he appeared at the High Court in Christchurch.
It's been more than a month since Bao went missing.
Since she disappeared, searches have been carried out at several locations across the city since her disappearance, including multiple properties and waterways, but have yet to find her body.
