Man rescued from Cave Stream in Canterbury after ankle injury

A man has been rescued from a cave in Canterbury after an injury left him unable to walk.

Emergency services were called to Cave Stream Scenic Reserve in Lake Pearson just after 2:30pm on Thursday.

"Police responded to reports of a person unable to exit a cave after sustaining an ankle injury," a police spokesperson said.

St John sent one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and one helicopter to the cave. Fire and Emergency (FENZ) was also in attendance.

The man has now exited the cave and is being treated by paramedics.
