Two people are on the run after an attempted ram-raid in Auckland overnight.
At around 3.24am, a group of offenders used a stolen car to try and smash through the entrance of a dairy on Maskell St in St Heliers.
The offenders failed to break into the store and fled the scene in another stolen vehicle when police arrived.
A police spokesperson said shortly after a stolen car was observed in the same area.
A Police Eagle Helicopter was used to track the car and its four occupants travelling southwards along the Southern Motorway.
Police are investigating whether the stolen car and its occupants are linked to the burglary.
Officers successfully spiked the vehicle on George Bolt Memorial Drive at around 4.00am.
Two youths were taken into custody without incident, but two others remain outstanding, police said. They are being referred to Youth Aid for the stolen vehicle and driving offences.
