A person has been injured after crashing their car into a tree while fleeing police in South Auckland last night.
Police said they spotted a vehicle driving erratically just after 12.30am on Takanini School Road.
Officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but the driver failed to do so and continued driving in a "dangerous manner", a police spokesperson said.
"Police activated their lights and sirens, however, the driver took off at high speed before losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a tree on Taka Street," police said.
Footage from the scene shows the door on the driver's car caved in as a result of the crash.
The person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries and an investigation is ongoing.
