Thieves have targeted a luxury handbag store in central Auckland for the second time in almost as many months.
Crews were left cleaning up at Lavish Luxury on High St after a group of young people smashed their way in at about 10pm on Monday.
Police said a "number of items were taken" by the thieves before they fled in a stolen vehicle before officers arrived.
"The vehicle was located abandoned nearby and has since been towed and will undergo a forensic examination," a police spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said so far no one has been arrested but police are working to identify and locate those involved and "hold them to account".
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police via 105, referencing job number P055916250," the spokesperson said.
"Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
The overnight smash and grab comes after the same store was targeted by hammer-wielding thieves who threatened staff and stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of designer handbags in July.
