A man is in hospital in critical condition after a fight outside a central city bar in Hamilton early this morning.
An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with assault.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Neilson said the fight followed an argument among a group at about 2am nearby Biddy Mulligans Bar on Hood Street.
The victim received a blow to the head after exchanging words with the assailant outside the bar.
"It's important to realise just how dangerous any blow to the head can be," Neilson said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about it is asked to contact police.
