A person has died and another is moderately injured after a truck crashed into a median barrier near Hastings on Saturday evening.
Police were called to a single-vehicle crash where a truck smashed into the median barrier at the intersection of Pakowhai Rd and Brookfields Rd in the small town of Pakowhai at 7:30pm.
"Sadly, one person was declared deceased at the scene," a police spokesperson said.
Police also confirmed a second person received moderate injuries and was transported to hospital.
"The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene. Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing," the spokesperson said.
