Police make fresh plea for information one year after unsolved homicide of Ariki Rigby

Police have made a fresh plea for information a year on from the unsolved homicide of teenager Ariki Rigby in Hawke's Bay.

The 18-year-old's body was found in a burned car near Havelock North last September, three days after family reported her missing.

After initially believing her body was a dead sheep, Police launched a homicide investigation.

In a statement on Saturday, Detective Inspector Dave de Lange said Police's thoughts are with Ariki's family a year on from her death, and they are focused on holding those responsible to account.

"We would also reiterate our appeal to the public for anyone who has genuine information which may help us to report this to Police," he said.

"We believe people in the community know what happened to Ariki, but loyalties are preventing them from speaking - please do the right thing and come forward."
