Police have arrested a second person after a spate of aggravated robberies in Auckland's Pt Chevalier earlier this month.
Last Monday, Police arrested a 26-year-old man who was a Crips gang member over the burglaries.
In an update on Tuesday, police said they've arrested and charged a 23-year-old male with aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession for supply of methamphetamine, and possession for supply of cannabis.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ash Matthews of the Auckland City CIB said officers executed an arrest warrant at a Mount Wellington address on Tuesday morning.
"One person was arrested and charged in relation to the aggravated robbery at the Mt Albert Sports Bar on New North Road, Mount Albert on 14 September," Matthews said.
"An imitation firearm was also located at the address."
The 23-year-old man will appear in Auckland District Court on Tuesday.
The robbery at the Mt Albert Sports Bar saw four masked offenders, armed with a gun storm in. A staff member inside was "uninjured but understandably shaken" by the robbery and is being supported by police.
Detective Senior Sergeant Matthews said officers are working hard to find the other offenders involved in the spate of robberies.
"We hope this second arrest brings reassurance to the community that we take this type of offending extremely seriously and will respond, investigate and put offenders before the courts," Matthews said.
"We will continue to work hard to identify and arrest further offenders responsible for these robberies."
Police are also searching for a vehicle - a silver 2005 Toyota Mark X with the registration HTU397 - which is believed to have been used during the aggravated robbery at Wapiti Sports Bar on September 16 and still hasn't been found.
Police are also still appealing to the public for any further information about the aggravated robberies between September 14-16.
At 2am on Saturday, September 16, multiple offenders armed with hammers and a gun robbed the Wapiti Sports Bar on Carrington Road.
Staff were locking up the bar for the night when the offenders entered and began threatening them.
Police said four offenders wearing masks took cash and fled in two vehicles, one of which was abandoned near the scene and will undergo forensic testing.
A similar style robbery took place the day earlier with a group of offenders targeting The Harlequin Sports Bar on Great North Rd in the same suburb just before 1am on Friday, September 15.
Multiple staff and patrons were inside the premises when the offenders entered.
"One person has fired a shot inside the premises, which has struck a wall behind the bar and the offenders have taken money from the tills and gaming machines before fleeing," Det Snr Sgt Martin Friend previously said.
It's believed the offenders in these armed robberies are also responsible for the robbery at Mt Albert Sports Bar on New North Rd at about 2:20am on Thursday, September 14.
"We believe these three incidents are linked and we're following positive lines of enquiry but need the public's assistance to find these offenders before they injure someone," Det Snr Sgt Friend said.
Police urge anyone with information regarding any of the robberies to contact them.
"Contact Police by calling 105, or if you wish to give information anonymously, please call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111."
