Jodi Barnett, the wife of prominent New Zealand broadcaster Simon Barnett, died in the early hours of Monday after a long battle with brain cancer, the family said in a statement.
She had gone through four surgeries since 2018 after lesions were discovered on her brain.
Simon had been absent from his Newstalk ZB radio show recently and said in a recent interview with the NZ Herald: "Things are grim now."
The family remebered Jodi as their "beautiful wife and mother".
"We are absolutely heartbroken that our beautiful wife and mother, Jodi, passed away in the early hours of Monday morning," said the family.
"We are completely broken but trust she is now walking and talking freely with our heavenly Dad.
"Words cannot adequately convey how deeply loved she was by us, and all who knew her."
Jodi is survived by Simon and their four daughters Samantha, Sophie, Bella and Lily, and their three grandchildren.
