Person arrested after four people injured, one critically in assault at south Auckland bus stop

A person has been arrested after injuring four people, one of them critically, after an assault at a south Auckland bus stop overnight.  

A police spokesperson said at 10:51pm on Monday, officers responded to reports of a male allegedly assaulting multiple people at a bus stop on Bader Drive in Māngere. 

One person was transported to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition while a second was taken to Middlemore Hospital in a serious condition. Two other people sustained minor injuries.

Police confirmed a 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He will appear in the Manukau District Court on Tuesday.  

"Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident, is asked to contact Police via 105, referencing job nub number P056232602. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111," the spokesperson said. 

Auckland Transport (AT) said the Māngere Town Centre bus station is partially closed but buses are still running to schedule and be accessed by a temporary bus stop.
