Whanganui Police have located a vehicle and driver in relation to a hit and run on Saturday night that left a six-year-old boy critically injured.
A police spokesperson said a group of children were walking home from playing at a local park in the Castlecliff area when one of them, a six-year-old boy, was struck by a car while crossing a road.
"The driver of the car did not stop, and the boy was transported to hospital in a critical condition," the spokesperson said in a statement on Sunday.
Police have since tracked down the driver and vehicle.
"Police want to thank the public for the information they provided and enquiries into the incident remain ongoing," police said in an update on Monday morning.
"We are still interested in CCTV footage anyone in the area may have of a small light blue hatchback-sized car."
