Firefighters have been kept busy overnight extinguishing 'several' fireworks-related fires around the country.
Just after 9:30pm on Sunday evening, Fire and Emergency New Zealand responded to a house fire in the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough.
The property's deck and garage suffered extensive damage as well as a car in the driveway.
Firefighters worked to dampen hotspots, while paramedics checked over the occupants.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told Newshub it was one of "several" fires around the country caused by fireworks overnight, which largely impacted vegetation.
Fire investigators will also be looking into the cause of two other blazes in Auckland overnight. Firefighters raced to a block of shops in Auckland's Mount Roskill shortly after 9:30pm.
A shop on the ground floor of a two-storey complex was well-involved in flames, while in Blockhouse Bay, a truck was left gutted after being engulfed at around 1:30am on Monday morning.
Fire and Emergency said the fire threatened at least one property.
Both fires have now been extinguished with investigations ongoing.
