Police say one person has died following a two-vehicle crash in Auckland on Tuesday afternoon.
The person had earlier been taken to hospital in critical condition.
Another remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Meanwhile, Great North Road has been opened again to normal traffic.
Emergency services and the serious crash unit attended the crash earlier, which happened at about 2:30pm.
Police had closed Great North Road in Western Springs between Stadium Rd and Tuarangi Rd, according to Auckland Transport.
Newshub spotted two officers standing next to one of the cars involved, with a tarpaulin draped over it.
Earlier, police urged the public to avoid the area and to expect delays.
Police investigations are ongoing.
