The New Zealand Agricultural (A&P) Show in Waitaha/Canterbury got underway on Wednesday - celebrating the 160th anniversary of the iconic farming showcase.
This year saw an emphasis on drawing the young to the event and the return of an old favourite - the Christmas Cake Bake-off.
Also returning this year was the coveted Best in Show award.
"I think it's nostalgia, it's quite fitting that this is our 160th year - it's a competition that's always been loved," said show general manager Tracey Ahern.
Tradition is the backbone of A&P.
Everywhere you look, something is being judged - including how farm animals are presented.
