A person is critically injured after being attacked by a dog north of Auckland.
Emergency services were called at about 1:10pm on Friday after the dog attacked the victim near an address on Tara Rd, Mangawhai.
A police spokesperson said one person was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Animal control has been notified.
It's not yet clear whether the victim knew the dog.
