A person of interest in the homicide of Baby Ruthless-Empire swore at media as she entered the Hutt Valley District Court on Wednesday on unrelated charges.
Rosie Morunga lived at a Taita address where Ruthless-Empire Ahipene-Wall, known to the family as Baby Ru, was killed on October 22.
Morunga wrapped a shirt around her head as she entered the courthouse, telling Newshub to "Have some f**king respect bro".
A supporter, believed to be her cousin yelled: "You f**king losers, f**k off."
Morunga was set to be sentenced on multiple charges including common assault. These are unrelated to the homicide investigation.
Her partner Dylan Ross, who's also a person of interest and lived at the Taita address, sat in the public gallery as her matter was called.
Judge Arthur Tompkins declined media applications and rescheduled sentencing until next year.
Ruthless-Empire's initial unexplained death was upgraded to a homicide on October 26, where police revealed the post-mortem results showed he died due to blunt-force trauma.
"We believe that these injuries were not accidental," said Det Insp Nick Pritchard at the time.
It's understood Ruthless-Empire was injured up to 12 hours before he was found in an unresponsive state on October 22.
He was taken to Hutt Hospital but died shortly afterwards.
It's been confirmed officers were back at the Taita address on Tuesday night but police wouldn't comment further.
Morunga and Ross wouldn't answer questions from media as they left Hutt Valley District Court on Wednesday.
