A person has been seriously injured after crashing into a slip in the Hawke's Bay region on Sunday morning.
Police said emergency services responded to the crash that occurred on State Highway 2, south of Wairoa.
A car is reported to have collided with a slip blocking State Highway 2 between The Crescent and Kiwi Valley Road, according to police.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said a person is in a serious condition and was airlifted to Hawkes Bay Hospital.
St John said it responded with two ambulances and a helicopter to the scene.
Police also confirmed the slip is blocking the road completely and motorists are asked to delay travel.
It comes as wild weather has been hitting the east coast of the North Island over the past couple of days.
On Sunday morning, MetService extended its heavy rain warning for the region saying it was a "significant event".
