An investigation is underway into the death of a man in central Auckland on Monday night.
Police said officers were called to a property on Celtic Cres, Ellerslie just before 8pm after "a man [was] found unresponsive at the address".
Det Insp Scott Beard, of Auckland City, said the man's death was being treated as "unexplained".
"Our focus is on establishing the circumstances surrounding the death and supporting the victim's family at this difficult time," he said in a statement.
"A scene examination is underway at the address and is expected to take a couple of days.
"Additionally, a scene guard is currently in place and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while our enquiries continue."
Beard said as part of the investigation, the public was urged to report any information or sightings of a blue Kia Rio car, registration NJN927, last seen at the Celtic Cres address.
Anyone with information was urged to contact the police on 105, quoting file number 231106/8053.
