A rundown and abandoned house in Auckland's North Shore is expected to sell for up to $800,000.
The Glenfield property, publicly listed on Trade Me, is pictured with stained paint, patched-up walls, an unkept and overgrown lawn and a yard filled with broken cars.
Ray White's agent for the property Paulette Edser told Newshub despite its state, the house has had interest between $750,000 and $850,000 from "tradespeople looking to restore the home to its former glory".
The listing, which reads 'Not for the faint-hearted!' describes the property as "a unique opportunity in a prime location".
"Whether you're an ambitious renovator eager to embark on a total do-up, or a visionary developer ready to create something entirely new, this property presents a blank canvas awaiting your creative touch," the description reads. "The possibilities for transforming this space into something truly remarkable is boundless".
Edser said the house, located on Glenfield Rd, fell into disrepair when most of the family moved to the Kaipara area "a number of decades ago" leaving it empty and uncared for.
"Several different groups had illegally moved themselves into the property and were removed at different times with the help of the police," she said.
"The owners had started to renovate and gut the inside of the home ready for a clean start but, due to health issues as well as age, they have instead decided to sell as it is too difficult and costly for them to keep returning to Auckland."
She said the property has a "number of things really going for it" including its handy location to the motorway, shops and schools.
Schools in-zone for the property include Manuka Primary School, Glenfield Primary School and Glenfield Intermediate.
"It would be great for the area when sold and done up," she said. "It would be an amazing decent-sized home on great flat land with no flooding issues.
However, she admitted despite the payoff being "very rewarding" it would be "a huge project".
