Armed police swarmed a south Auckland suburb on Saturday evening in search of a "wanted person".
It's reported police, including the Armed Offenders Squad, set up a staging point at a Papakura petrol station where at one point there were 17 police cars on site, according to a staff member who spoke to New Zealand Herald.
A police roadblock was set up at the intersection of Keeney Court and Clevedon Rd as officers searched for a "person of interest".
A police spokesperson told Newshub armed police were conducting enquiries at an address in Papakura for a "wanted person" but the person was unable to be located.
Photos taken by Newshub show armed police at the roadblock with officers speaking to drivers when they approached.
