Dozens of firefighters have battled a large blaze at the Avondale Jockey Club in Auckland overnight.
Fire and Emergency (FENZ) said staff responded to an automatic fire alarm in Avondale at around 12:30am Friday.
The first crew at the scene found a 60 by 30 metre fire on the ground level of a five-level building, a FENZ spokesperson said.
FENZ sent 80 crew members and 21 fire trucks to tackle the fire which has since been extinguished.
A fire investigator is looking into the cause of the fire and one fire truck remains at the scene monitoring and dampening hotspots.
