A person is seriously injured and Auckland commuters are facing delays on Friday afternoon after a crash brought traffic to a standstill.
The NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said the crash blocked the Southern Motorway's northbound left lane, just after the Market Rd off-ramp.
Heavy traffic and delays were expected.
"One person has been transported to hospital in a serious condition," a police statement said.
Elsewhere, a person sustained moderate injuries in a crash on State Highway 58 in the Wellington region.
Emergency services were called to the single-car crash on Paremata Haywards Rd at about 12:55pm.
In the early hours of Friday, a person was killed in a motorbike crash in south Taranaki's Warea.
