One person has died after being hit by a bus at Albany Bus Station in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland on Saturday.
A police spokesperson told Newshub the crash on Elliot Rose Ave was reported just after 2pm and cordons are still in place.
Auckland Transport director of public transport and active modes Stacey van der Putten said they were informed on Saturday afternoon of the fatal crash.
"Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the woman killed as well as those at the scene today who did their best to help."
She said the bus driver involved has been stood down, and will be "supported by the bus company during this difficult period".
Hāto Hone St John told Newshub they were alerted to what happened at 2:08pm.
They sent one ambulance and two rapid response units to the scene.
Albany Bus Station will stay closed while police carry out their investigation, van der Putten said.
"Although we can't speculate about the cause of this afternoon's incident, we want to remind people of the importance of allowing extra time and being patient when travelling around Auckland at this hectic time of year."
Buses will arrive and depart from stops nearby, with staff available to help.
