A pedestrian has been seriously injured in a crash in Auckland on Friday morning.
Emergency services responded to the crash on the Mt Wellington Highway at about 9am.
Police said the crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The person injured was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The serious crash unit has been advised.
Diversions were put in place and motorists were advised to expect lengthy delays and to avoid travel in the area where possible.
In an update just before midday, police said the highway had since re-opened.
"We thank motorists for their patience while emergency services worked at the scene," police said.
"The investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing."
