A person has been killed after a fire ripped through a house in Kāpiti Coast's Paraparaumu Beach on Friday evening, police say.
The fire happened at a property on Manly St, said a police statement on Saturday.
"A scene examination is ongoing this morning at a fatal fire in Paraparaumu Beach," the statement said, adding emergency services were called to the scene just after 6pm on Friday. "A person at the address was in critical condition but despite best efforts of medical personnel to revive them, sadly died at the scene."
Police said officers would be working alongside Fire and Emergency New Zealand investigators to figure out what caused the blaze.
