A person has died after a reported "gas explosion" on Great Barrier Island overnight.
Emergency services were called to a property on Motairehe Rd at the northern end of island just before 1am.
A person was found dead at the property, a police statement said.
The death and "reported explosion" is being treated as "unexplained". Police said officers will be working with Fire and Emergency New Zealand to determine the cause.
Anyone with footage or information that may assist is asked to contact police.
