Hundreds of passengers' flights have been cancelled on Christmas Eve due to fog and low visibility issues at Nelson Airport.
Air New Zealand head of flight operations Captain Hugh Pearce told Newshub five flights in Nelson have had to be cancelled because of the weather.
"Due to weather, flights between Christchurch and Hokitika have also had to be cancelled," Pearce said.
"Air New Zealand is reaccommodating affected customers by adding additional flights to and from Nelson, also from Auckland, Blenheim, Wellington and Christchurch, as well as a bus service, ensuring customers get to their destination in time for Christmas today," he said.
"We'd like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while we work through this weather disruption."
