An electric vehicle driver in Tauranga has been left confused after claiming a threatening note was left on their car for supposedly poor parking.
Reddit user Hoodoo89 shared photos of the incident, asking "Who's the a**hole handing these out?"
"Can anyone figure out what the person thought was wrong with my parking?" they said.
The note left on their Nissan Leaf reads "You, yes you. You park badly... and you should feel bad".
The formatting of the note is disconcerting, and its contents continued to get stranger.
The note urges its recipient to "Stop. Use the bus, get a bike, or get lessons. Preferably all three."
"Sincerely, every other person on the road."
While the cordial tone and slightly tacky presentation are relatively benign, things ramped up when the card was turned over.
"Next time you will be keyed, thank you."
The user who shared images of the card also shared images of their parking, which by all accounts seems fine.
"Literally nothing wrong with your parking," one reply said.
"Parking is perfect. Choice of car is terrible," another said, referring to the driver's Nissan Leaf.
The good parking led to suggestions that the card had not been meant for them.
"I wonder if it was put on someone else's car, who then picked it up, hated it, and to be a dick just put it under yours? (Possibly 'cause it's an EV and they're weird)," one person wrote.
"Parking looks perfect. Probably gave you one because they’re some anti-EV nutjob", though others thought Leaf was too close to the kerb.
There was also much criticism of the card's formatting and typesetting.
"The typesetting and design of the card is an abomination. Vomit-in-my-mouth bad," read one reply.
Others were impressed at the effort that had gone into making such a card to hand out.
"I'm impressed at the effort gone into creating such a card. Silver linings; you didn't get keyed," said one user.
The original poster said they would have made a police report and checked CCTV if their car had been keyed.
"You would have to be demented to think keying someone's car is a proportional response to bad parking," they said.
