Christmas is the time for giving but with the rise in the cost of living, it's been difficult for people to get into the holiday spirit.
So one community group in Auckland spent the day making sure no one missed out
Debbie Munroe runs Waka for Caring in Manurewa. It's a foodbank and community support group.
"You ring the bell, you give me a smile, you get a food parcel," Munroe explained.
Waka for Caring has provided 300 meals and 600 presents for the community.
"Today's the biggest need in the whole year and everyone deserves a Christmas meal and a present. That's why we make sure men, women, kids, nanas, grandads - everyone deserves one good day," she added.
And when it comes to why she gives up her holidays to provide gifts and food to others Munroe has a simple response.
"Why not? It's a part of who we are."
But she's not alone with her whole family getting involved in the giving spirit.
"My partner cooked 12 hams last night. I've got my grandkids handing out the deserts. My two daughters handing out all the Christmas presents."
And her mum even came up from Hamilton to help out.
