Kiwis are generally calm, kind, and conscientious but that can all go out the window when we get behind the wheel.
With dashcams becoming increasingly popular, there's more and more footage of dangerous and bizarre driving decisions.
Now a popular Facebook group has compiled some of the worst offences on New Zealand's roads from 2023.
The owner of the Traffic Updates Horowhenua Kāpiti Wellington Facebook group has released a YouTube compilation of some of the most shocking dashcam footage from the past year.
Most of the incidents featured are from the Kāpiti, Horowhenua, Manawatū and Wellington regions - but anyone who's ever been cut off will attest that this behaviour happens across the country.
"Each year between 300 and 400 people die on our roads, it's not hard to see why," the creators of the YouTube video wrote in the description.
Here are some of the highlights, (if you're a thrill seeker that is) from the compilation:
A man standing on the seat of his moped
Mopeds are far from the most aerodynamic vehicles and we can't imagine this pose will help with the driver's speed, especially if he were to fall off and make a detour to the emergency room.
Driver speeds into intersection, and then into the air
This clip appears calm enough until a red Mitsubishi appears out of nowhere, careening sideways into the barrier and cars patiently waiting at the lights.
Motorcyclists' brush with death
Truckies spend their working life driving and as a result, see some of the worst behaviour on our roads.
In this instance, the bad behaviour came from some impatient motorcyclists seen overtaking one truck just to come dangerously close to another coming from the other direction.
Truck's trailer swings into oncoming traffic
This clip is straight out of a fast and furious film, if Vin Diesel was driving quaint countryside single-lane roads that is.
The flatbed trailer of a large truck swings wildly into the opposite lane as it rounds a corner, narrowly missing the vehicle driving towards it.
A near miss if there ever was one.
Driver reverses his trailer down the motorway
The video finishes with this scene of a driver backing his trailer down the motorway heading into Ngauranga Gorge in Wellington.
While backing a trailer is a tricky task at the best of times, this is taking the challenge to a new level.
