The victim of a homicide in the Christchurch suburb of Aranui on Thursday has been named by police.
He was David Karl Bridgwater, aged 38.
"Our sympathies are with his whānau and loved ones at this difficult time. The investigation into David's death is ongoing," a police spokesperson said on Friday evening.
The 38-year-old was found dead on Carisbrooke Street in Aranui shortly before 2:30am on Thursday.
Earlier on Friday, police said they had received upwards of 20 pieces of information from the public in relation to the homicide investigation, which was launched on Thursday.
Police also released new information about a vehicle of interest - a white 2003 Toyota Crown sedan, registration LEQ895, that they believe was owned by the victim.
"Police are continuing to seek a white 2006 Toyota Crown sedan, registration LEQ895. The car has a sunroof, making it quite distinctive," a spokesperson said in the update on Friday afternoon.
