A homicide investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Palmerston North.
Emergency services were called to an address on Coromandel Court in the city's northeast shortly before 7:30pm after receiving reports a man had been shot.
He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later from his injuries.
A scene guard was in place at the property overnight and police will complete a scene examination with help from staff at ESR.
"Officers will remain in the area today as we piece together exactly what has occurred," police said in a statement.
"Police would like to hear from anyone in the Coromandel Court and Featherston Street areas in Roslyn who may have seen anything suspicious, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage from last evening, to contact Police via 105.
