One person is dead and another two seriously injured after a vehicle rolled on west Auckland's Muriwai Beach.
Police said they were alerted at 2:38pm on Sunday to the incident at the beach, which only re-opened to vehicles this week.
Witnesses told the NZ Herald a ute had been doing burnouts on the beach, with a girl in the back, before the accident.
"We came across [the accident scene], and a fireman told us a girl had been killed. We saw her body lying outside the ute just by the rear tyre there," one told the NZ Herald.
"One was taken to hospital, one was dead and the other was being taken by police."
A police spokesperson said the serious crash unit attended and investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
